Ariz. gov. announces $2.7 million in energy grants

PHOENIX (AP) — More than 30 Arizona communities will be getting grants for energy efficiency and conservation efforts. Gov. Jan Brewer announced the $2.7 million in grants on Friday. The grants range in size from $6,000 to $164,000 and are funded by federal stimulus dollars. State to award grants to regional schools

The state will give $450,000 in school district regionalization planning and implementation grants, Lt. Gov. Timothy P. Murray announced yesterday. The grants will go to eight districts statewide, including $300,000 for Ayer-Shirley, to fund transition costs for a new, recently approved regional district.

Governor Grants Death Row Inmate Clemency

A lawyer familiar with the decision said Gov. Ted Strickland has commuted the death sentence of an inmate who claims innocence in a triple slaying. The attorney told The Associated Press that Strickland will announce that he has commuted Kevin Keith's death sentence to life without parole.
